Sitting on a Jetblue flight the other day, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that we would be getting free movies to watch during the flight. So, I switch on the TV to “The Social Network” which was playing as the first free movie.
About 5 minutes into the movie, the captain gets on the PA and announces information about the flight which halts the audio on the movie. Visibly annoyed, the person next to me commented “I can’t believe this… no body cares how high we are up in the air.”
I sat there amazed by the comment. We were thousands of feet above of the ground in an aluminum tube watching free movies on the tube in front of us and she was indignant at the minor inconvenience of waiting a minute to resume the movie. We just found out we got free movies only a few minutes before. The moment reminded me of the bit that “everything is amazing and nobody is happy” (see below).
It makes you appreciate how amazing everything is nowadays. Try to remember that the next time you’re on a plane or even just surfing the Internet and suffer some minor inconvenience. You’ll be happier.
